Dear Averie and Declan,
This past weekend was Memorial Weekend. We didn't have much planned which was fine with me. On Saturday morning Jon, Annie, Grant and Jude DeWaal came over for brunch. We had muffin melts and cinnamon rolls. I am not sure if I was more excited for the food or the company :)....I guess the company. Grant had a little bit of a hard time while he was over, but Averie you were so good to him and making sure to share your toys even when he threw a fit. You are so sweet. Declan you slept through most of the time together. You love your naps still and take about 4 a day!
On Sunday we decided to not go to church and instead took a hike at the Shoreview Park. It was a nice day but not too hot. We did about a 2 mile hike and Averie you were so good. You were scared of bears at the start of the hike, but as long as you were holding my hand you were okay :). Declan Daddy carried you in the front pack and after a few minutes you were asleep. It was a great hike and a great family time. When we got home we BBQ and hung out as a family. Right now Averie you are really into playing games. We play memory about 1000 times a day :). You want to play while we eat, before bed, and every time in between. So we spent a lot of the weekend playing games.
On Monday we again really didn't do much. We went for a walk and BBQ ribs. Averie you ate more ribs than me :). I think you liked them because they were sweet. But I didn't care because you rarely eat meat so anytime you do makes me happy.
Declan you have been sleeping really well lately. You go to bed at 6:30pm and most nights wake up around 1 and 4, eat and go right back to bed. You have been such an easy baby, however, you have been a bit constipated lately and I can tell that you are uncomfortable. I wish there was something I could do to make it better. Other than that you are so happy. You are really starting to grab at things and love playing on your play mat and reach up for a toy and pull at it. You are so smiley and love getting kisses.
You two make me so happy. I love you!

Dear Averie and Declan,
Wow today was a busy day! The weather outside was beautiful and I was feeling a bit ambitious. We decided to get sandwiches and go for a hike after Daddy got of work. We did a hike in Medowdale that was 1 1/4 mile hike down to the beach and then 1 1/4 mile back up. It was a bit ambitious to do on a week night but we did it and Averie you did AWESOME! After falling and scraping your knee in the first 100 yards I was a bit nervous. But Daddy carried you for a little bit and then you did great. You walked the whole way down and back up. On the way down I carried Declan in the front pack and Daddy carried him back up. When we got to the beach we ate a picnic dinner. It didn't go quite as planned because it was so bright for you Declan and hot but we made the best out of it. On the way back up Averie you and I walked together and talked about all the girly things we could do. We took rests and had a really good time! On the drive home I could hear you in the backseat "wow that was a really hard hike" :).

Dear Averie and Declan,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DECLAN!! I can't believe that you are 3 months today. These last three months have gone so fast but I cannot imagine our life without you. You have brought so much joy into our lives. You fit into our family so well. You are a true gift from God.
Last night was a LONG night. Declan you kept wanting to wake up and eat. The last month you have been wanting to wake up around 5 and eat even though most nights I feed you at 4. This morning we let you cry for about 30 minutes. It was hard listening to you cry so hard. Daddy finally picked you and held you. You are a persistent little guy. I am not sure where you get that from :). The last few days you have been so smiley. I sit with me knees pulled up and you laying on them. You just smile and smile. Today when I was playing peek a boo with you you started to giggle. It was precious! You like it when I make a motor boat sound. You get the biggest grin on your face. Today while you were playing on you play mat you kept grabbing at the toys hanging down and then when the lights and music would come on you would smile and wiggle your legs.
This morning we went to the Shoreline play gym with Annie, Grant and Jude. Averie you were so sweet and kept bringing toys over for Grant who was having a hard time. You have the biggest and kindest heart! This afternoon after naps you decided that you wanted to go to school and packed a bunch of letters and toys. I was going to be the teacher. You are super excited to go to school but I think you may have a hard time leaving me. I know I will have a REALLY hard time. After Declan went to bed tonight you, Daddy and I played Memory. You were so cute and kept teaching me how to play the game. I love you so much and love all our moments together. Sometimes I get so scared that I won't be able to remember these ordinary days. I love these regular simple moments in our lives. I cherish our moments together.
I don't think you two will ever really know how blessed I feel to be your Mom. My heart swells with love and pride every time I look at you guys. I love you both!!!

Dear Averie and Declan,
Today was Sunday which always brings me joy and a hint of sadness. Joy because God calls it a day of rest and sadness because it means Daddy has to go back to work the next day :(. This morning we headed to church at Bethany North. Averie you went to your classroom today without crying or wanting to stay with me. I think you really like going but like to get a little extra attention from the teacher :). While you were at Sunday School you made Delcan and me pictures. After church you ran up to Declan wanting to show him your picture. You are such a good big sister. Declan you were quite restful at church. You haven't been wanting to take naps and halfway through the service you woke up. That just means that I get to snuggle you more. After church we went to Uncle Jason and Aunt Tiffany's for dinner. It was a great visit. Delcan you and Zoey laid on the play mat and held hands. you were both very mellow. Averie you were such a good big sister/cousin. You just wanted to play with them and be in every picture with them. All in all it was a good day. I always LOVE our weekends and spending time as a family.
