Happy Birthday Averie!!!
Today was your 4th birthday, you have become such a big girl. I sat and watched you sleep this morning and couldn't believe that my baby girl is already 4. You have grown into an amazing little girl with such a big kind heart. You are such a joy to be around and have such a fun personality. I sat and remembered the day you were born and how in love with you I was as soon as I laid eyes on you. You came out all goopy and crying but as soon as Daddy and I were holding you, you calmed right down and just sat and stared at the both of us. From your first day you were curious about the world and what was going on around you and that curiosity and hunger to know more hasn't changed. You have always been a happy little girl who laughs easily and is a joy to be around. I so LOVE being your Mommy!
Today we woke up and had an egg casserole and monkey bread (your favorite) for breakfast. We then packed up and headed to the zoo. It ended up being a gorgeous morning. We have spent every birthday of yours at the zoo and they have all been beautiful. We saw the bears, monkeys, elephants, penguins, giraffes and had a picnic on the grass. We then came home and got ready for your birthday party!
Your party was a princess party but we mostly just invited family, Keith and Rebekah and then 1 friend, Norah Acker. It was a great party with lots of yummy food, a chocolate chocolate princess cake and best of all you got a playhouse for the back yard. It was a great birthday party!
You are loved by so many people, most of all Daddy, Declan and me.
Happy birthday princess!!
Love you,
Mommy

September 7th 2011 Night before Averie's first day of school

Dear Averie,
I cannot believe that tomorrow you start preschool for the first time. I have spent the day today remembering the last  years and everything that we have been able to do together. We have spent countless hours going to the library, playing at our favorite parks, walking around the zoo, visiting our friends, shopping, getting hot chocolate and even cleaning. I have loved that I have been able to stay home with you these last 4 years and I wouldn't trade 1 minute of it for anything. Thank you for being my constant and best buddy.
As I watched you play at the park today I was overwhelmed with the little lady that you are becoming. You are so kind, loving and generous. Your heart is already so big and I know that as you start preschool tomorrow you will be a light in that classroom and that you will thrive. Over that last 4 years I have had to let go and let you grow up a little at a time, but tomorrow I feel like is the biggest step in letting you go and grow up. It will be the first time that someone else will be the one influencing you, teaching you, getting to spend those precious hours with you. I am sad but I know that it is time that I let you grow and I know how much you will love going to school, trying new things and making new friends.
I am so excited to share those moments after school; having you tell me what you learned, who you played with and what your favorite part of the day was. I pray that as you start school you will always be confident in who you are and who God made you to be. That you will thrive, push yourself and not be afraid to try new things. I pray that God will surround you with good friends who lift you up and whose kindness equals yours.
I love you princess and I am so excited for all that God has in store for you.
Love,
Mommy
