Averie: Monday April 25th, 2011

Dear Averie,
Oh boy was today a hard day for us. Right now your are going through an independent stage and do not want to be told what to do and do not want to listen to me. You choose time out about 10 times and choose a spanking 4 times (which we usually don't spank you). Even though you didn't want to behave today you still have such a sweet heart! You kept telling me you loved me and asking to "fill my bucket." This afternoon we painted princess pictures together and you said that they were for Daddy and Declan. You are such a loving little girl.
One of the things I love most about you is how you pray. Tonight at bed time you wanted to say the prayer and it when like this "dear God thank you for all that you give, thank you for Mommy, Daddy, and Declan, I pray for my birthday, Christmas and spring to come, thank you for our clothes, toys, baskets, kitchen, books, food, God could you make us a back yard house to play in? Thank you for all that you give, Amen."
Even in the midst of battles I love you so much. I love how you are your own person, and have your own ideas and desires.
I love you!!

Declan: Monday April 25th, 2011

Dear Declan,
Last night we had the best night sleep yet! You went to bed at 6:30pm (which is your usual time) and didnt' wake up until 11:50pm. I sure hope that keeps going on :). This morning we went to Jessie's house. You slept most of the time just snuggled up to me. I love how you love to snuggle into my neck.
You are becoming such a smiley baby! This evening after dinner you were laying on the boppy and looking back and forth between Averie and Daddy. You would just smile and look away, almost like you were shy. You are so observant to everything around you and you love to just watch everyone and see what is going on.
You make me so happy!
Love,
Mommy

Declan: April 6th, 2011

Dear Delcan,
Today was a GREAT day! The last few days we have been working on trying to get you on a routine: sleep, eat, play and today was the first day that went so smoothly. You love to eat and boy do you let me know when you are hungry when you wake up :)! You are such a good eater (know where you go that :)). This afternoon after your sister got up from her nap you laid n your play mat and just smiled at her. You have moved out of your infant look and you are now just a baby; which breaks my heart how fast time has already gone. You are such a happy little boy and love just watching everything around you. You follow me where ever I go with your eyes and love snuggling into my neck. Tonight after I put you down for bed I watched you fall asleep. You kept looking around the room with your eyes drooping. You are so precious to me and I love you more and more everyday. You have only been here for 7 weeks but I can't imagine life without you.
I love you!

Averie: April 6th, 2011

Dear Averie,
Today was a GREAT day! You are just getting over a double ear infection (your first) and croup (not your first) and today was the first day where you were "you". You were happy and full of life. You helped me go grocery shopping with Declan for the first time and you were a tremendous help.
You must be going through a growth spurt because at lunch you ate a peanut butter, honey and banana sandwich, tortilla chips, orange, a carrot, two helpings of breakfast casserole and some chocolate crackers (I don't know where you put it all in that little body of yours)! You then took a 3 hour nap that Daddy had to wake you up from :). You rarely take naps and when you do you don't go to sleep until 10 pm...yikes. Daddy is in your room now reading more books to you since you are wide awake :). He is such a good Daddy!! After your nap today you and I sat with Declan on his play mat and made him smile. You are so in love with your little brother and I love watching you get excited to see him do new things. You love making him smile! After dinner you and Daddy made forts and played. There is nothing you love more than playing with him; building forts and running around the kitchen table. Tonight my heart is full of so much love for this family God has created. You are so special to me and you make my life so full of joy.
I love you!

"Ordinary Days"

Life has gone so fast. Sometimes the days are gone before I even know that they have begun and I sit at look at the two of you asleep and "wonder where has the time gone?" I feel like I am going to turn around and both of you will be long gone, married and living your own life and I will only be left with the memories of these days. The memories of Averie dancing in her tutu and being a princess and Declan sleeping next to my bed and only wanting to cuddle into my neck. These days are so precious yet so fleeting. I have already looked at the photo albums that we have and remember all the special moments and days but I also don't want to forget the "basic" and "ordinary" days and because of that I am going to blog letters to you about our life....our "ordinary days."
